Groups at the Center for Culture and Language – Brookline
To embroider, you don’t need much. The materials are down-to-earth, found in almost every home or just a short distance away at a craft or sewing store. It’s a forgotten mother tongue that was spoken in almost every home many years ago, and happily, it is also a part of my life. It is my primary language as an artist. In embroidery, stitch joins stitch, line to line, a thread of one color blends with another, and the result is always surprising and intriguing – especially considering that in most cases, I set out on the journey without knowing exactly where it will lead. There is a great deal of satisfaction and peace in this process.
I embroider freely, unbound by any specific tradition, making space for free expression, color, movement, or inspiration. I embroider by observing an image, delving into color, expression, texture, and light, and attempting to translate all of these using thread as a material aspect – thread as raw material, rather than having a merely decorative or orderly role.
I invite you to discover the world of embroidery and let it pleasantly surprise you. There’s a good chance it is much broader and more intriguing than you thought:
Embroidering at the Center – Embroidering, Creating, and Meeting
Due to popular demand, the “Come Home” workshops are coming closer to you and will take place at the culture and language center, which is also a home for the Israeli community. So if Newton is a bit too far for you, come embroider in cozy, intimate sessions, full of inspiration and learning at your own pace.
Even if you have no experience, background, or knowledge in art, it really does not matter. This is a creative nest, a safe space where you can create without judgment toward the final product. The heart of the matter is the process itself, enjoying the creation, mental well-being, encountering materials, techniques, and crafts, and also meeting other women.
The groups take place in an Israeli atmosphere, in Hebrew, and serve as a space for meeting, creation, and connection to the community. The sessions are intended for Hebrew speakers and make it possible to maintain a connection with the Israeli language, culture, and essence right here.
- Mondays in the evening between 7:15 and 9:30 PM (long sessions that allow for practice and significant deepening each time).

TEENS Embroidery
A creative, contemporary embroidery group for teenage girls
Are you drawn to the world of craft and lifestyle? Are you looking for a way to express yourself and discover how far you can go with fabric, thread, a needle, and imagination?
In the sessions, we will get to know the world of embroidery from a fresh and contemporary angle. We will learn various techniques and discover how to use them in creative and surprising ways, inspired by contemporary art, fashion, design, and textiles. We will combine colors, textures, and diverse materials, and create original works that reflect your personal style.
This is also an opportunity to acquire a skill that will stay with you long beyond the sessions, develop confidence in the creative process, and enjoy the ability to bring ideas to life.
The sessions take place in a small and intimate group with personal guidance, time for experimentation, a pleasant atmosphere, and plenty of room for curiosity, play, and inspiration from a variety of sources.
The sessions take place in Hebrew and in an Israeli atmosphere (with support in English if needed). Beyond creating, the groups offer a space of belonging, connection, and community, a place to maintain a connection with the Israeli language, culture, and essence through meetings, new connections, and shared stories.
No prior experience is necessary, just an open mind and a willingness to try something new.

Close Together – A local space for dialogue, connection, and support for Israeli women.
Living in another country can be exciting and enriching, but it also comes with plenty of questions, homesickness, loneliness, and the challenge of adjusting to a different reality. Between family, work, kids, and everything that needs to get done, it’s easy to forget that you need a space of your own, too.
Krovot is a group for Israeli women, offering a safe and welcoming space to slow down for a moment, meet women who can relate, share, listen, think things through together, and feel supported.
Because sometimes, what you miss most in a new place is simply being around women who truly understand what you’re going through.
- The group is for Israeli women in the Boston area looking for connection, support, a sense of belonging, and new friendships.
- Meetings are held in Hebrew, in a warm Israeli atmosphere. The group combines open conversation, practical tools for navigating life abroad, and opportunities to build meaningful connections and strengthen a sense of belonging.
- Thursday mornings, 8:30 to 10:00 AM.
- Drop-in participation is available, subject to space.
