I’m Shira Aharony

Birthday wishes from me to you
Today is my birthday. A birthday that comes after a year in a different, distant country. I narrowed it down, and a year passed; I narrowed it down again, and a decade has already gone by here. There’s no way I’ve grown only in the past year.

TRY SOMETHING NEW
On the door of the school counselor, there are three words, and they are the heart of the educational approach at this school

On Pain and Aggression
Three months and two days since we landed on the moon. So much has happened since then, so hard to capture in words. Still, I’m starting to try.

The Here of There
I’m still a little afraid to write. I’m afraid to think, afraid to understand what’s happening, even though we’ve been preparing for this move for quite a while, we really haven’t spoken about it much aloud. It’s like being afraid to refer to a baby before it’s born, and now that it’s happened, I’m still scared to refer to it, here and in general.
Testimonials
We came to Shira as experienced parents who thought they knew everything, with a very successful child who refused to fit into molds. Through age and cognition-appropriate art, creation, games, and stories, Shira was very attentive and immediately identified all strengths, giving him and us tools to cope and see things correctly. The experience was very positive and is remembered fondly to this day and beyond - it created a change in all our behavioral patterns, all done with grace and intelligence.
Shira conducted several training sessions on art therapy for kindergarten teachers. The sessions were diverse and included various techniques and up-to-date knowledge. She was attentive to the trainees' needs, answered questions professionally, and managed to captivate them. Positive feedback for the training came quickly; the teachers said they were happy to return to their kindergartens and implement what they learned.
With thanks:
Rinat Alfia - Early Childhood Art Instructor
For us as parents, the best indication of successful therapy and connection is that we feel comfortable returning for consultation even years after the therapy itself ended, knowing that Shira knows our child in a very special way. Even during the years of therapy, it was experienced as something very normative and simple. The message that was conveyed to the child and has stayed with her since is that when help is needed, there's a good and helpful address to turn to.
After many attempts at talk therapy that ended in blow-ups, we came to you and discovered things could be different, and sometimes even better. Thank you for your resourcefulness and creativity, thank you for not giving up even when it wasn't easy or pleasant, and for proving to us that patience pays off.
